I grew up in Reading, Berkshire, and would often be found pottering in my bedroom reorganising my toys and belongings. When I moved out on my own I loved decorating my flat and kitting it out with the essentials. Home now is Andover, Hampshire, where I live with my husband and our son.
I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2005 and have worked in NHS hospitals and private settings in a variety of roles. My organisational skills have always helped me and others progress. In particular, as a Ward Sister, my team were proud of how well our clinical and store rooms were organised ensuring we made the best use of our budget. Most important though, was being able to find clinical equipment quickly and efficiently resulting in more time for patient care.
In 2017, when working as a care home manager, I unfortunately suffered a period of extreme work related stress before I left the company. Alongside the love from family and friends, a big part in the healing process for me was being able to declutter, clean and organise my home. Although this was a difficult time in my life, I was able return to nursing for 4 more years and achieve a better work/home life balance. I have recently taken on a new role as a Learning Support Assistant at a primary school, which I am loving!
I enjoy reading and listening to podcasts about topics such as nutrition, mental health and wellbeing, and protecting the environment, and I try to make gradual adjustments to my lifestyle accordingly. I highly rate Marie Kondo's book 'The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up' and her KonMari method, although I am much more flexible in my own approach to decluttering and organising. In March and December 2019 I attended training workshops with Vicky Silverthorn, author of ‘Start With Your Sock Drawer’. Meeting Vicky (my professional organiser idol!) gave me the final boost of confidence and motivation to actually take the plunge and start my own small business.
My professional and personal experiences mean I have great empathy for my clients, and I fully understand how, at times, decluttering can be as challenging as it can be rewarding. My house is certainly not a 'show home' but everything does have its place and the friendly level of organisation I have achieved allows me to relax and enjoy the precious moments with my loved ones. My aim for this business is to help others by sharing my huge enthusiasm for sorting! I look forward to hearing from you x
